100/365 ~ Learning to be Mitvah Makers!
Mitzvah - Hebrew word loosely translated to describe the act of expressing human kindness.
When Katie Starr told us that she wanted to help the people that were suffering in Japan as a result of the earthquake and Tsunami, we came up with an idea of asking for donations in return for a sweet thank you treat.
When we spoke about it to Katie's friend M and her mom C, well, let's just say they jumped right in and went to town baking. I baked too but not nearly as well as C did!
Today was the day that we put our plan into action and with the assistance of Ethan and the parents, these two sweeties solicited donations after religious school was done for the day to the tune of $150.00. All proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross and earmarked to go to the affected areas in Japan.
Today was a success on every level. Money was raised and important lifetime lessons were instilled. Win - Win!

I resort to serving these once in awhile! I am lucky enough to have a hubby that does most of the cooking but tonight was a night that I had to come straight from work to get the DD and in order to get them to bed at a decent hour they got this frozen dinner....cooked of course! ;-)

I Came home from work tonight and felt a bit under the weather.
I laid down on the couch and fell fast asleep.
Woke up to find that Katie had placed one of her stuffies within my grasp, so that I would feel comforted.

Tonight we participated in Earth Hour.

I am no math whiz but my DD are joined here by another DD. The Dynamic Duo of Linda and Harry also known as Nana and Papa.
There is lots of excitement when both DD's get together. In fact it ratchets up to the second power!

76/365 ~ Five Years since the first glimpse of this beautiful face!
We were in love with this child from the moment she was merely a thought conceived in our minds. We had nothing more than hopes and prayers and yet we knew that our precious daughter was out there; somewhere.....
When we saw her smile and the light in her eyes for the very first time on March 17, 2006, we thanked our lucky Starrs for such a blessing. We cried tears of joy and celebrated our good fortune!
We knew that she was the perfect addition to our family...and she is. Her presence in our family ultimately provided the strength and faith to adopt again and once again our love multiplied.....times 3!
Five years to the day that we saw this face, the love has deepened to depths we never knew possible. We adore her as do her brothers, family and close friends that are like family to us.
Thank you to the Peoples Republic of China for matching us to our heart and soul....

75/365 ~ Ethan vs The Pavement: The Pavement won!
Ethan and Katie have recently learned how to ride two wheel bicycles with no training wheels. Katie is a bit ahead in her ability to ride with stability and even stop but not to be outdone, Ethan is relentless in his pursuit of furthering his abilities.
Marc took them to the park to ride on the track and this was the result. When it happened, Katie was closer than Marc was. She quickly stopped and dropped her bike and ran to her brother's aid. He was a real trooper though and was super brave. This is just one of the wounds; the most visible one so I know it had to hurt...a lot! In true Ethan style he took a short break and got back on his bike to ride again.
A final note....I spoke to my friend Grace on my way home from work today and told her what had happened. Later in the conversation when we had already moved on to other topics, I mentioned that I needed to take my pic of the day and did not know what my subject matter would be. In true photog fashion she reminded me about Ethan's fall. I totally concurred with her idea....I know.....pretty bad! Hey, I documented the fall for posterity sake....right?!?

Marc read somewhere that hamsters can walk 8 miles a day on their wheels.

When we place them in their balls they are so excited to go in and they roll all over the house. We find them in the craziest places!

That is the best way to describe our beautiful and very feminine daughter who can hang with anyone and everyone; especially the boys!
Her best friends include her brother and three other boys;
Riley, Daniel and Chase.
She loves her girlfriends too; especially her bff Mia
but loves hangin with the guys and boy can she hang.
She is quite the dare devil lately and tough as nails to boot.

61/365 ~ It's good to be the queen
I am not a very materialistic person. This is one of the few possessions that I hold dear. I get at least one comment a day on it because it is very beautiful. To me it is made even more beautiful by the sentimental value that it holds.
Marc gave me this ring just before we adopted Katie.
His exact words when he presented it to me....
"We are about to adopt our princess but I want you to know that you will always be my queen."
When I think of that moment, it still chokes me up.
Especially because he still makes me feel that way every day.
